How's this for a surprise? The Detroit Lions just signed safety Ricardo Silva from the practice squad on Saturday night. Less than 24 hours later, the team has announced that Silva is going to be in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. Not only is he active in place of an injured Amari Spievey, but Silva is starting in place of John Wendling. Clearly, the Lions aren't happy with their safety play, so they are giving Silva a chance to start.
In other starting lineup news, Sammie Hill will take Corey Williams' spot on defense. Williams is out and inactive following knee surgery earlier this week. Also, Mikel Leshoure is active and is expected to start again.
Here's a rundown of the inactive Lions players:
QB Kellen Moore
OT Jason Fox
OT Corey Hilliard
DT Corey Williams
LB Travis Lewis
S Louis Delmas
S Amari Spievey
And here is the rundown of inactive Vikings players:
QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson
WR Stephen Burton
WR Jarius Wright
OG Mark Asper
LB Erin Henderson
S Andrew Sendejo
S Mistral Raymond
