There aren't exactly a ton of players to choose from for Detroit Lions special teams MVP in 2012. There are only three true special teamers on the team, although if you count the guys on the return and cover units, that number does go up quite a bit. Let's take a look at who Pride Of Detroit's writers predict to be the Lions' special teams MVP this season.

Sean Yuille: K Jason Hanson

This really wasn't a difficult choice by any means. As much as I love Don Muhlbach, I wasn't going to select a long snapper as the Lions' special teams MVP, and I wasn't going to select punter Ben Graham or a member of the cover unit, either. That's why I went with Jason Hanson, who is expected to have another outstanding season despite turning 42 back in June.

TuffLynx: WR Kassim Osgood

It is hard to select a special teams MVP based on what I witnessed in the preseason. The only guy who really stood out was Reshard Langford, and he was cut. While I am hoping for Jason Hanson to have a monster season, I am going to go with the man that was brought in to solidify the special teams units, Kassim Osgood.

simscity: K Jason Hanson

I didn't pick Stefan Logan because the kickoff return and coverage units have become more and more meaningless with the kickoff rule changes. Hanson is at the tail-end of his career, and though he's a fan favorite, I don't think his true worth will be realized until he's gone.

Packey: K Jason Hanson

Duh. He's a man, he's 42.

Previously: Record, Offensive MVP, Defensive MVP
