Lions Notes: Roy Williams Retires From NFL

• Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Roy Williams announced his retirement on Saturday.
• Jim Schwartz had a funny quote this week when he was asked about Matthew Stafford:

  When asked about a chip on @staff_9's shoulder @jschwartzlions says "I thought we surgically removed that chip."

• Earlier this week, St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher discussed his time in Tennessee with Schwartz.
• Stafford enjoyed making his commercial for ESPN.
• The Lions are going to put together a documentary on the 2012 season by using video shot by fans.
• The Lions released a few statements on the passing of former Baltimore Ravens owner Art Modell this week.
• Forbes ranks the Lions as the 27th most valuable franchise in the NFL ($855 million).
• Sports Illustrated has put together an NFL broadcasting guide for the 2012 season.
• Earlier this week, SB Nation put together a few pieces to help preview the season: preseason awards as voted on by NFL bloggers, preseason power rankings and a GIF preview of the NFC North.
• Former Lions wide receiver Tim Toone made the Atlanta Falcons' initial 53-man roster, but he was placed on injured reserve after being waived/injured earlier this week.
