2013 Pro Bowl: Don Muhlbach added to NFC roster

Detroit Lions long snapper Don Muhlbach has been selected to play in the 2013 Pro Bowl for the NFC.

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson isn't going to play in the 2013 Pro Bowl, but the Detroit Lions will have somebody in the game. Specifically, long snapper Don Muhlbach will be playing for the NFC in the Pro Bowl. He was added to the roster on Tuesday by the Green Bay Packers coaching staff, which is going to coach the NFC in the game.

Here's what Lions kicker Jason Hanson had to say about Muhlbach in the release sent out by the team:

"Don is a huge part of my success and a significant part of our kicking game," said K Jason Hanson. "He is as accurate and consistent as there is in the League. With the field goal process, it all starts with him. He works hard and takes great pride in what he does. This is a great honor for him and is well deserved."

As Justin Rogers said on Twitter, Muhlbach is one of the few players who will probably actually appreciate the opportunity to play in the Pro Bowl. It has become a pointless game, yes, but it's a nice honor for someone who rarely gets recognition for the excellent job he does.
