Detroit Lions' 2013 free agents

The list of Detroit Lions free agents for 2013 is quite large. This is a big reason why the 2013 offseason is expected to be so much more hectic than last year. A year ago, only a few notable players hit free agency, and nearly all of them were retained. This year, the Lions have a total of 23 unrestricted free agents, most of whom play defense. As a result, the Lions will be pretty busy trying to re-sign some of these free agents and trying to fill the holes created by those who depart for other teams.

In order to set the stage for the 2013 offseason, it's important to understand just who is set to become a free agent. This is why I've put together a list of the Lions' 2013 free agents, as broken down by their status. Check it out:
