Lions notes: 'NFL Honors' set for Super Bowl eve

Lions notes looks at "NFL Honors," Senior Bowl news and much more.

USA TODAY Sports
  • The second annual NFL Honors is set to be broadcast from 9 to 11 p.m. ET on CBS on Feb. 2, the night before Super Bowl XLVII. Several awards will be handed out that night, and Barry Sanders is among the former players set to attend the event. I'd imagine Calvin Johnson will get some air time as well.
  • According to ESPN's John Clayton, the Lions currently have -$1.1 million of cap space for 2013. Ouch.
  • Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson is going to play in the Senior Bowl as a wide receiver and possibly a running back.
  • Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel has declared for the 2013 NFL Draft.
  • File this story under things worth keeping in mind for down the road: Bill Cowher is planning to return to coaching at some point.
  • The Lions' official site has video of Nate Burleson's recent appearance on NFL AM.
  • NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah has a recap of how some of the top prospects in the BCS National Championship fared on Monday night.
  • Robert Griffin III is going to miss most of the offseason recovering from a knee injury, but it sounds like he will be back in time for the start of the 2013 regular season.
