Before he was honored as the Detroit Lions' recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award on Tuesday, Nate Burleson spoke to the media about his latest recovery from an injury. Burleson broke his arm in a car accident just one week earlier, but already he is set to have his cast removed on Thursday this week. He seems quite pleased with the progress he's made in his recovery from the broken arm, and he still has big goals for the 2013 season. From ESPN:
"I anticipate being out there pretty darn soon," Burleson said at Ford Field Tuesday before he received the Ed Block Courage Award. "Put it like this. When I get back, I'm still going to try and go after that 1,000 yards.
"So that means I've got to have enough games to do it, which means I should be back soon."
Kyle Meinke reports that Burleson went on to say that he's "gotten some good news," but he declined to go into detail about it because he doesn't "want to get yelled at by Coach Schwartz."
Specific details about this particular recovery may be scarce right now, but we got some new information on Tuesday about just how bad Burleson's broken leg was last year. The reason he received the award was because of how he came back from that season-ending injury, and it turns out there were some concerns when it first happened that the injury could end his career.
Lions doc said Burleson's knee was so bad last year, they thought he'd never play again. There were bone/cartilage chicks floating in leg

Remarkable was the word used to describe Burleson's comeback from that injury. Hopefully in a month or two the same word will be used to describe Burleson's return from his broken arm.
