It turns out that Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson's knee injury is something new. According to what head coach Jim Schwartz said on Monday, Johnson suffered the knee injury against the Chicago Bears. He's dealt with knee issues in the past -- he missed most of the preseason with a knee contusion -- but this is a brand new injury.

So, when exactly will Johnson be back for the Lions? There's no set timetable, but Schwartz said this on Monday:

It's an understatement to say it would be a "big bonus" for the Lions to get Johnson back. Without him, they lacked any offensive firepower against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, and they desperately need him to return this week against the Cleveland Browns.

In other injury news, Schwartz said that it's too early to tell if offensive tackle Jason Fox will miss any additional time with the knee injury he suffered on Sunday. Fox just returned on Sunday from a groin injury that kept him out for several weeks, but he was replaced at right tackle by Corey Hilliard after leaving with a knee injury. At this point, it may just be best to go with Hilliard as the starting right tackle for good.
