Dominic Raiola apologizes, makes donation to Wisconsin band

Dominic Raiola has apologized for his actions toward the Wisconsin band.

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

I think we can officially put the whole Dominic Raiola/Wisconsin band story to bed. On Tuesday, a day after it came out that Raiola verbally abused members of the Wisconsin band, he apologized for his actions and made a "significant" donation to the band. He also released the following statement (via Tim Twentyman):

"My interaction with the Wisconsin Marching Band was inappropriate. I apologize to those I offended along with all of the members of Wisconsin’s Marching Band. I also apologize to the Lions’ organization and my teammates. I understand the standards to which we should conduct ourselves, and my actions Sunday fell dramatically short of those standards."

Lions president Tom Lewand also released a statement:

"Due to Dominic’s sincere and appropriate response, there will be no additional disciplinary action by the team. We are also pleased that he is supporting his apology with a significant donation to the Wisconsin Marching Band Fund."

In essence, this case is closed with Raiola's apology and donation. A word of advice to Mr. Raiola: Just don't be an idiot in the future and save your trash talking for people you're actually playing against.
