Reason for optimism
No team in the NFL has allowed more passing yards this season than the Eagles. They are dead last in the NFL in passing yards allowed and give up an average of 296.8 a game. They've been better as of late compared to the start of the season, but Philly's biggest defensive weakness plays right into the Lions' biggest offensive strength.
Reason for pessimism
The Eagles have won four games in a row and are undefeated this season in games started and finished by a healthy Nick Foles. And speaking of Foles, he has thrown for 1,791 yards and has 19 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He's also rushed for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns. It's no coincidence that the Eagles' winning streak began when Foles became the full-time starter.
Storyline to watch
This is a matchup between two first-place teams. The Eagles are tied with the Cowboys at the top of the NFC East, but Dallas holds the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Lions, meanwhile, are in sole possession of first place in the NFC North, and they could start hearing about clinching scenarios with a win on Sunday. Needless to say, this is a big game for both teams.
