The Detroit Lions are in rough shape from a depth standpoint when it comes to their secondary. Just like last Monday, cornerback Chris Houston is inactive again because of a toe injury, and cornerback Rashean Mathis is inactive as well this week because of an illness. As a result, the Lions are set to start Jonte Green and Bill Bentley at cornerback (with Don Carey playing the nickel), and they have dressed Darius Slay despite him being doubtful on the injury report. Slay will apparently only play in an emergency situation.
On a positive note, wide receiver Calvin Johnson and linebacker DeAndre Levy are both active. There was some concern over Johnson's status going into Sunday's game based on reports that he was a game-time decision, but he will play against the New York Giants.
Here's the Lions' list of inactives:
QB Kellen Moore
RB Mikel Leshoure
TE Brandon Pettigrew
OG Rodney Austin
C Leroy Harris
CB Chris Houston
CB Rashean Mathis
And here are the Giants' inactives:
QB Ryan Nassib
RB Peyton Hillis
WR Victor Cruz
OG David Diehl
DE Jason Pierre-Paul
LB Allen Bradford
S Cooper Taylor
