Lions coaching rumors: Detroit interested in Todd Bowles?

The Detroit Lions appear to be interested in speaking with Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.

Since firing Jim Schwartz on Monday, things have been pretty quiet on the coaching search front for the Detroit Lions. Actually, only one name has leaked out so far as potentially drawing interest from the Lions since Schwartz's firing: Todd Bowles.

Bowles, who is currently the Arizona Cardinals' defensive coordinator, actually was a finalist for the Lions' head coaching job back when Schwartz was hired in 2009. Bowles interviewed with the Lions twice, and the team actually had him meet with the local media. That's how far along things were in the interview process.

Back when he was a finalist in 2009 for Detroit's vacant head coaching job, Bowles was the Miami Dolphins' assistant head coach and secondary coach. Later, in 2011, he went 2-1 as the Dolphins' interim head coach. He joined the Philadelphia Eagles as their secondary coach and later their defensive coordinator in 2012, and he's been with the Cardinals since last January.

UPDATE: Hold the Bowles talk for now, apparently.
