Lions-Eagles injury report: Darius Slay doubtful for Sunday

Darius Slay has been ruled doubtful for Sunday's game between the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Darius Slay just can't catch a break. After having an up-and-down (but mostly down) start to his NFL career, he put together an excellent performance last week on Thanksgiving. It was the best game of his career, and it looked like he may have finally turned the corner as an NFL defensive back.

Unfortunately, Slay may not get a chance for an encore this season. He showed up on the injury report on Thursday, and it turns out that he suffered a "freak" knee injury during practice. Slay did not take part in Friday's practice, and the Detroit Lions have ruled him doubtful for Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Based on what Rashean Mathis told MLive on Friday, it sounds like this could be a season-ending type of injury. At the very least, I wouldn't expect Slay to be back in the near future.

The good news for the Lions is that cornerback Chris Houston is questionable for Sunday, meaning there's a good chance he will be back this week. Also, running back Reggie Bush is questionable after returning to practice on Friday. He missed a couple days of practice earlier in the week, but Bush should hopefully be good to go for the Lions in Philly.

Here's the Lions' full final injury report:

RB Reggie Bush (calf) - Questionable
WR Calvin Johnson (knee) - Probable
DE Israel Idonije (knee) - Probable
CB Chris Houston (foot) - Questionable
CB Darius Slay (knee) - Doubtful
S Louis Delmas (knee) - Probable

And here's the Eagles' final injury report:

WR Jeff Maehl (concussion) - Probable
TE Zach Ertz (shoulder) - Probable
DE Damion Square (back) - Probable
DT Bennie Logan (neck) - Probable
LB Najee Goode (hamstring) - Out
S Earl Wolff (knee) - Out
