Tim Fuller-US PRESSWIRE

As part of our season wrap-up series, the 2012 POD Awards roll on. Next up is the category for the Detroit Lions' Special Teams Player of the Year. Here are the nominees:

WR Kassim Osgood

Signed just before the season to improve the Lions' special teams, Osgood finished 2012 with 7 tackles. He played an important role with the Lions' cover units and their improvement over the course of the season.

LB Ashlee Palmer

Palmer also played an important role on the Lions' cover units. He was actually named to Pro Football Focus' All-Pro Team for his play on special teams in 2012.

K Jason Hanson

Hanson set the Lions' single-season scoring record in 2012 thanks to converting 32 of his 36 field goal attempts. He also made all 38 of his extra points.

LS Don Muhlbach

Long snappers typically are only talked about if they make a mistake, but Muhlbach received recognition for his play in 2012 by being selected to the 2013 Pro Bowl.
