2013 NFL mock draft database: Picks for Lions as of 3/1

Which players are the Detroit Lions projected to draft this year? Let's see what the 2013 NFL mock draft database has to say.

USA TODAY Sports

Now that the 2013 NFL Combine is in the books, it's time to once again update our 2013 NFL mock draft database. Not all of the mocks in the database have actually reflected what happened at the combine, but many have. This particular update includes several new additions to the database, bringing the total number of mocks to 44. Take a look at what the pundits are projecting for the Detroit Lions:

Defensive end is still the major favorite for the No. 5 overall pick. 23 of the 44 mocks have the Lions going with a defensive end, while only 13 have them going with a cornerback (Dee Milliner, to be exact). The other seven mocks have the Lions going with an outside linebacker, offensive tackle or offensive guard. Here's the full breakdown:

Positions (first round)

  • Defensive end - 23
  • Cornerback - 13
  • Outside linebacker - 5
  • Offensive tackle - 2
  • Offensive guard - 1

The most interesting thing about the individual player breakdown is that Milliner continues to account for every cornerback projection. There is a lot of disagreement on which defensive end the Lions should take, but there isn't any when it comes to the cornerback position. Every mock draft that has the Lions going with a cornerback has them taking Milliner. Here's the full rundown:

Players (first round)

  • CB Dee Milliner - 13
  • DE Damontre Moore - 9
  • DE Bjoern Werner - 7
  • DE Ezekiel Ansah - 4
  • OLB Jarvis Jones - 4
  • DE Dion Jordan - 3
  • OT Luke Joeckel - 1
  • OT Eric Fisher - 1
  • OG Chance Warmack - 1
  • OLB Barkevious Mingo - 1

(Note: The mock draft that has Mingo going to the Lions projects him as a linebacker rather than a defensive end.)
