- Linebacker Justin Durant made it known again on Friday that he wants to re-sign with the Detroit Lions. He said in an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio that his agent has "talked to them a little bit and it sounded pretty good." Durant will become a free agent on March 12 if a new deal isn't worked out before then.
- Jim Schwartz said last week at the NFL Combine that offensive tackle Jeff Backus and kicker Jason Hanson have been working out at the Lions' facility. Neither has announced a decision about retirement or coming back, but I'd expect both players to return.
- Schwartz thinks former assistant and current St. Louis Rams defensive coordinator Tim Walton is going to be a head coach in a couple years.
