Defensive end Cliff Avril may land one of the biggest contracts of all this year's free agents, at least that is the expectation as we near the start of NFL free agency. It doesn't look like there's any chance that Avril will be re-signed by the Detroit Lions given his price tag, especially with multiple teams reportedly expressing a great deal of interest in him.
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported on Tuesday that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are "pushing hard" for a pass rusher like Avril. What's more, the Buccaneers apparently are planning to "do what it takes to get Avril."
The Indianapolis Colts are also believed to be in the mix to land Avril, according Aaron Wilson. In fact, he says there's a "good chance" Avril will end up in Indianapolis. As pointed out by SB Nation's Stampede Blue, it would make a lot of sense for Avril to sign with the Colts.
Worth noting: Cliff Avril's coach at Purdue is Indy's d-line coach right now: Gary Emanuel. Ryan Grigson also went to Purdue.

The Cleveland Browns are also believed to have interest in Avril. Needless to say, a pretty nice market seems to be developing for him. If he isn't going to end up back in Detroit, root for him to get a monster contract, as that would help the Lions when compensatory picks are handed out next year.
