Lions tender contract to Joique Bell

The Detroit Lions have tendered a contract to running back Joique Bell, meaning he will be back with the team next season.

USA TODAY Sports

As expected, the Detroit Lions extended a contract tender to exclusive-rights free agent Joique Bell. We didn't actually hear about the tender until Wednesday, but Dave Birkett reports that it's worth $630,000.

With this move now public, we know that the Lions tendered all four of their exclusive-rights free agents. This means that Bell, fullback Shaun Chapas, wide receiver Kris Durham and safety Ricardo Silva will all be back with the Lions for the 2013 season.

Bell is without a doubt the most notable exclusive-rights free agent after what he did last season. Bell impressed the Lions in a big way in the preseason, earning a spot on the 53-man roster. Once the regular season began, he continued to impress and earned a spot in the rotation at running back. Bell finished the season with 414 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, as well as 485 yards receiving.

Bell figures to continue to be a part of the Lions' stable of running backs in 2013, even if they add Reggie Bush to the mix.
