The Detroit Lions have indicated that free-agent linebacker Justin Durant isn't in their future plans, at least not as things currently stand. The Lions are planning to give Ashlee Palmer, Tahir Whitehead and Travis Lewis a chance to start at outside linebacker, so there isn't a need to re-sign Durant right now.
If the Lions get to training camp and feel they do need additional help at linebacker, general manager Martin Mayhew could always decide to bring Durant back. Of course, for that to happen Durant actually has to still be a free agent, and there's obviously no guarantee that will be the case. He wants to land with a new team right now, and he's set to visit the Dallas Cowboys on Monday.
Names the Cowboys are actually bringing in for UFA visits Will Allen S and Justin Durant LB. Will visit Valley Ranch on Monday.

Durant was also reportedly drawing some interest from the New York Giants, but nothing has really developed on that front.
