Lions fly in Louis Delmas for physical, according to report

The Detroit Lions are reportedly bringing in safety Louis Delmas for a physical.

USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions have already re-signed offensive tackle Corey Hilliard and linebacker DeAndre Levy in advance of free agency beginning. Could safety Louis Delmas be the next soon-to-be free agent to get a deal done with the Lions? It looks that way, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Delmas has been flown in for a physical.

Based simply on his play, re-signing Delmas seems like a no-brainer. His health is a concern, though. Delmas' inability to stay healthy has put the Lions in a tough spot at times with them having to replace him in the lineup. His injury issues could affect his new contract both in regards to the length and value of it.

Of course, for Delmas to even be able to sign a new contract, he needs to pass a physical. The fact that the Lions have flown him in for one doesn't necessarily mean that they are on the verge of getting a deal done, but it does seem like a sign that negotiations are progressing.
