2013 NFL mock draft: Redskins select Margus Hunt

The Washington Redskins take Margus Hunt with the 51st pick of the 2013 POD Community Mock Draft.

USA TODAY Sports

With the 51st pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2013 NFL mock draft, the Washington Redskins select SMU defensive end Margus Hunt. Yoda34 is serving as the Redskins' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.

I'm going with Margus Hunt with the Redskins' first pick in the draft. We saw last year after Brian Orakpo went down that the 'Skins really struggled to put pressure on the QB, only getting to the QB 33 times with the highest total coming from Ryan Kerrigan, who is another promising young player on this talented Redskins team.

Hunt brings power along with finesse to a 3-4 front. He proved his ability to get to the QB with 11.5 sacks last season at SMU, along with 5 blocks on special teams. His size gives him an advantage against long-armed tackles. He isn't a perfect DE, but his raw ability leaves room for a lot of improvement, and being on the same defense as London Fletcher will not hurt him at all. Another reason is because Stephen Bowen is almost on the wrong side of 30 now and is slowing down, so Hunt will be a big improvement.
