With the 58th pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2013 NFL mock draft, the Denver Broncos select LSU linebacker Kevin Minter. BtotheLT is serving as the Broncos' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.
With the 58th selection, the Broncos find good value and fill a need with MLB Kevin Minter.
Coming out of LSU as a junior, Minter won a team MVP award and was considered the most consistent player. He collected 130 tackles in 2012 and then was awarded consensus first team All-SEC. He's very talented, well balanced and smart; I don't think Minter will crack the starting lineup immediately, but he could replace Stewart Bradley mid-season.
Drawing comparisons to DeMeco Ryans and NaVorro Bowman, I'm selecting Kevin Minter to be the long-term solution at MLB in Denver.
Side note: I was looking forward to scooping up a few select defensive end prospects. Some went earlier than I anticipated and some I didn't feel comfortable reaching for. Minter was a player I had on my big board in the first round, making this an easy pick.
