The Detroit Lions have done it again. For the second year in a row, a Lion is going to be on the cover of the Madden NFL video game series. Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was the cover boy last year, and this year's game will feature former Lions running back Barry Sanders on the cover.

As announced on Thursday night, Sanders defeated Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson in the finals of the Madden 25 cover vote by a margin of 58-42. The announcement was made live on ESPN SportsNation in New York, and the cover has already been released:

Before defeating Peterson in the finals, Sanders took down Ron Rivera, Marcus Allen, Ray Lewis, Joe Montana and Jerry Rice. In the finals, as the representative of the "Old School" side of the bracket, Sanders took home the Madden 25 cover vote title over Peterson, who was representing the "New School" bracket.

Madden NFL 25 will be released on Aug. 27. Go here for more information.
