This comes as no surprise after three offensive tackles were taken in the top four, but the Detroit Lions' decision to take BYU defensive end Ezekiel Ansah at No. 5 has caused quite the debate amongst fans. Some fans are on board with the selection because the Lions have filled their massive need at defensive end, whereas others think that Ansah is too risky of a pick to go in the top five.
While I would have preferred someone else (one of the offensive guards, to be specific), it's not like the Lions were dealt a very nice hand. They didn't have their pick of Lane Johnson and Ansah or anything like that. Instead, thanks to the early run on tackles, it was either Ansah or potentially reach for a guard. In the end, the Lions decided that addressing their pass rush was the way to go.
