2013 NFL Draft results: Lions pick Brandon Hepburn

The Detroit Lions have selected Brandon Hepburn with the 245th overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Detroit Lions wrapped up their 2013 NFL Draft by selecting Florida A&M linebacker Brandon Hepburn with the 245th overall pick. Hepburn is the first and only linebacker the Lions picked in this year's draft.

According to NFL.com, Hepburn recorded 86 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 7 pass breakups and 1 forced fumble last season. A year earlier, he had 63 tackles, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble. He was primarily a special teams player earlier in his career, and that is likely the role he will be in for the Lions in his rookie season.

While the Lions do have an opening in the starting lineup at outside linebacker, Hepburn was likely drafted to provide depth more than anything. Ashlee Palmer and last year's draft picks, Tahir Whitehead and Travis Lewis, will compete for the starting spot. At this point, there's really not even any room in the rotation, so if Hepburn even makes the team, look for him to spend all of his time covering kicks and punts.

With this pick now in the books, the 2013 NFL Draft has come to a close for the Lions.
