2013 NFL mock draft: Eagles select Eric Fisher

The Philadelphia Eagles take Eric Fisher with the fourth pick of the 2013 POD Community Mock Draft.

USA TODAY Sports

With the fourth pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2013 NFL mock draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher. N4ry4 is serving as the Eagles' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.

The Eagles could very well benefit from an upgrade to their offensive line. Jason Peters looks to be healthy, but he is 31 and coming off an Achilles injury. Peters can play on either the left or right side, as could Fisher. Having their tackle position filled would allow Todd Herremans to move inside to guard, which is his more natural fit.

Eric Fisher, at 6'7", 305, has the elite size and athleticism teams look for when they're shopping for offensive tackles at the top of the draft. He had a great showing at the Senior Bowl going up against some of this year's top defensive end prospects. This was important, as the level of competition he faced playing for Central Michigan was not as high as you might hope to have seen in a top-four draft prospect. Of course, Joe Staley came from the same program a few years prior and turned into a very good NFL left tackle. I have little doubt Fisher can quickly claim a starting spot and be a strong pass-protector for Philadelphia for the next decade or so.
