Ohio State offensive tackle Reid Fragel is scheduled to visit the Detroit Lions, according to Tony Pauline. The date of his visit is unknown, but Fragel is also scheduled to visit the Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals.
Fragel, who is from Michigan, was actually a tight end for the first three years of his career at Ohio State. He only moved to offensive tackle at this time a year ago, and he started 12 games at right tackle for the Buckeyes in 2012.
Given that he was originally a tight end, it's no surprise that Fragel put up some impressive numbers at the 2013 NFL Combine. He ran a 5.14 40-yard dash, did 33 reps on the bench press, had a vertical jump of 30.0 inches and went 113.0 inches in the broad jump. He finished in the top five at his position in the latter three categories.
Fragel figures to be an option for the Lions on the third day of the draft. They have a need at offensive tackle, so Fragel could be someone worth keeping in mind if the Lions are unable to address that need on the first two days of the draft.
