The Detroit Lions have signed 11 undrafted free agents. They announced the 11 signings on Wednesday afternoon, and the list includes several intriguing names. Take a look:
- QB Alex Carder (Western Michigan)
- RB Steven Miller (Appalachian State)
- WR Cody Wilson (Central Michigan)
- TE Joseph Fauria (UCLA)
- OT Austin Holtz (Ball State)
- OT LaAdrian Waddle (Texas Tech)
- C Skyler Allen (Ohio)
- DT Michael Brooks (East Carolina)
- LB Jon Morgan (Albany)
- LB Alex Elkins (Oklahoma State)
- S Martavius Neloms (Kentucky)
Aside from the local guys like Carder and Wilson, Miller and Fauria stand out because of their play-making abilities in college. Waddle also stands out as someone who could end up making the team based on his skill set. (Miller and Waddle both visited the Lions before the draft, by the way.)
Missing from this list are Marshall wide receiver Andre Snipes-Booker and Delaware State wide receiver Travis Tarpley. My guess is that like Richmond quarterback John Laub and Kansas center Trevor Marrongelli, they were invited to the Lions' rookie minicamp next week rather than offered a contract.
