Who belongs on Lions' Mount Rushmore?

Which four players belong on the Detroit Lions' Mount Rushmore?

USA TODAY Sports

Pro Football Talk is conducting a series where fans submit nominations for who should be on the Mount Rushmore for each NFL team. Essentially, PFT is looking to find out which four players in each franchise's history stand out the most as deserving of a spot on their team's Mount Rushmore (if one actually existed).

Nominations for the Detroit Lions' Mount Rushmore began over the weekend, and I was asked about which four players belong on it during an interview with Pro Football Podcast Daily on Monday night. This got me thinking that it would be interesting to see which four players all of you would put on the Lions' Mount Rushmore.

As for my four, I went with running back Barry Sanders, quarterback Bobby Layne, linebacker Joe Schmidt and cornerback Lem Barney. You could make arguments for a lot of other players, but when looking at the best players in the history of the franchise, those four stood out the most to me. (And for those wondering, I didn't really give any thought to putting Calvin Johnson on there. I'd rather let his career play out first.)

What does your Lions Mount Rushmore look like?
