As the Detroit Lions closed out their OTAs last week, they got some good news in the form of four injured players practicing on a limited basis. Running back Mikel Leshoure, wide receiver Ryan Broyles, defensive end Devin Taylor and cornerback Darius Slay were all able to take part in the final OTAs on a limited basis. This was a step in the right direction after the four players had been sidelined from earlier OTAs.
On Tuesday, as the Lions kicked off their three-day minicamp, there was an even more positive development for these four players. They were all able to take part in the Lions' team drills, according to Tim Twentyman, indicating that there weren't any restrictions on what they could do.
For Broyles especially, this is a really good sign considering he's trying to come back from another torn ACL. There's still no clear timetable on his return to 100 percent health, but if he's already taking part in team drills in mid-June, that has to be a good sign for him being ready for the start of the regular season.
For the other three players, this news is also obviously a good sign. Leshoure and Taylor had been dealing with hamstring injuries, while Slay was recovering from minor knee surgery. As long as there are no setbacks, these players should be ready to go on Day 1 of training camp next month.
