Matthew Stafford ranked 87th in PFT's Top 100

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is toward the bottom of Pro Football Talk's Top 100 list.

NFL Network's series on the league's 100 best players came to a close last week. Four Detroit Lions players landed in the top 100, which was put together based on votes from players in the league.

This week, Pro Football Talk is unveiling its own list of the 100 best players in the NFL. This particular list was voted on by members of the NFL media, and the first 25 spots were revealed on Monday. Coming in at No. 87 on the list is Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Stafford, by comparison, came in at No. 76 on NFL Network's top 100 list. Given the struggles he had in 2012, and the fact that the Lions went 4-12, I'm not too surprised that he's toward the bottom in both top 100s. He still put up some impressive numbers last season considering he threw for almost 5,000 yards, but he wasn't nearly as consistent as he was in 2011.

It's a pretty safe bet that Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will appear somewhere in PFT's Top 100, just as it's a pretty good bet that Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson will be ranked toward the front of the list. What will be interesting to me is if any other Lions players make PFT's Top 100 after four were included in NFL Network's rankings.
