Lions notes: Who belongs on All-NFC North team?

Lions notes looks at the NFC North, Joe Schmidt and more.

Gregory Shamus
  • NFL.com's Dave Dameshek recently put together an All-Pro team for each division. For the NFC North, which he ranked second based on the strength of the lineup, four Detroit Lions players made the team: wide receiver Calvin Johnson, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch and safety Glover Quin. Interestingly enough, the Minnesota Vikings led the way with nine players. The Chicago Bears were next in line with five players, while the Green Bay Packers, like the Lions, had four players.
  • Speaking of the NFC North, it came in third in CBS Sports' division power rankings.
  • Former Lions great Joe Schmidt thinks the team needs to experience winning "in order to get that flavor." Then, he says, the Lions will understand what they are going after.
  • This could be an interesting idea: I suppose this would provide extra motivation for players to stay academically eligible, but if you're talented, NFL teams will still scout you, combine or not.
