Pride Of Detroit is counting down the top 10 Detroit Lions players of 2013, as voted on by readers of the site. 1,051 ballots were submitted, and next up is a look at the No. 6 player on the list.
No. 6 - S Glover Quin - 2,535 points
The first new Lions player in our top 10 is safety Glover Quin. He appeared on 650 of the 1,051 ballots and came in sixth with a total of 2,535 points. Interestingly, Quin didn't snag a single first-place vote, and he only had five second-place votes. He did, however, end up with 115 sixth-place votes, 114 seventh-place votes and 117 eighth-place votes, which helped put him just outside the top five.
Quin joins the Lions this year after spending four seasons with the Houston Texans. In his final year with the Texans, he recorded 84 tackles, 1.0 sack, 14 passes defended, 2 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles. Also from his time in Houston is this stat: Quin missed only one game in four years with the Texans, meaning he is expected to bring some much-needed durability to the safety position for the Lions.
Quin, who signed a five-year deal worth $23.5 million with the Lions, will be a starter next to Louis Delmas, assuming Delmas is healthy. Quin will help form what could be the most talented safety tandem the Lions have had in quite some time, and he will be a big upgrade in the secondary.
Quin's first season with the Lions may not have even started yet, but clearly expectations are high based on him coming in sixth on this list.
Previously: No. 10 Ryan Broyles, No. 9 Stephen Tulloch, No. 8 Riley Reiff, No. 7 Chris Houston
