Brown's Game: Searching Through the Rubble for Some Positives

O.K. - I've read several comments already by fans claiming that they've " quit " the Lions after the second preseason game. What a joke.

I mean that WAS a very bad performance, but get real. It was one phony preseason game.

Here are a few " positives " from the game.

1. No serious injuries.

2. No turnovers.

3. Stafford I thought, looked better. He was on target. He was the victim of some drops. He threw some real nice balls to Bush, and that aspect even looked good enough to become a staple of our offense this season. Why not target Bush in the passing game 12 - 15 times a game ? That would force the safeties down just as nicely as a running game.

3A. Bush hustled and made some plays. He looks as billed, like he's gonna be a good edge rusher and receiver out of the backfield. I never really bought the line that he's gonna open up the between the tackles rushing game for us. Maybe Joique Bell can do a little of that ? Still, Bush has looked like a playmaker in both preseason games now. He looks to me as a much better player in the passing game than Jahvid Best, and he's also still an explosive edge rusher. That is saying an awful lot. The guy has won a Superbowl, and was even found to be stepping up with his leadership with his post-game " voice ".

4. I thought the D line actually played pretty well. There were no big plays, and they didn't do enough to carry the overall D, but still, they seemed to play pretty well overall.

5. I know they are just back-ups fighting for spots, and I was in such a depressed mood while watching them play that it hardly even registered, but I thought that Theo Riddick, Brandon Hepburn, and Myron Lewis flashed some NFL ability out there on a few plays.

6. Joique Bell and Shaun Hill I thought played well.

7. Havard Rugland and David Akers improved to 3 for 3 on field goal kicks.
