The Detroit Lions are now down to 80 players. They released four more on Sunday morning: wide receiver Cody Wilson, defensive end Ronnell Lewis, cornerback Myron Lewis and safety Chris Hope. This means that they've only got to part ways with five more by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday to get down to the 75-player limit.
Lewis is probably the most notable player of those released on Sunday. He was a fourth-round pick in 2012, and he was expected to be a big-time contributor on special teams while he learned how to play defensive end. He never really panned out, though, especially considering he was arrested in the offseason. This tweet pretty much sums up his time with the Lions:

Hope's release is a bit more surprising considering he was getting so much work as a backup safety. The fact that the Lions are letting him go seemingly bodes well for Tyrell Johnson and Amari Spievey, who are trying to make the team as one of the backup safeties.
As for Wilson and Lewis, there was never really any expectation that they would make the 53-man roster, so it's no surprise that the Lions let them go.
