Lions training camp injury update: Secondary remains banged up

The Detroit Lions were without four defensive backs, as well as a few other players, on Saturday.

Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas has now gotten four straight days off. The entire team got a day off on Wednesday, and Delmas has since missed the last three days of practice. Jim Schwartz indicated on Friday that Delmas is simply still sore and had some swelling in his knee, and that apparently was the case again on Saturday. At this point, it's not clear when Delmas will be healthy enough to return to practice.

The same goes for a few other members of the Lions' secondary. Cornerbacks Jonte Green and Chris Greenwood and safety Amari Spievey all missed Saturday's practice. Green and Greenwood are closing in on nearly a week since they were last able to practice, while Spievey has been out for a couple days now.

The Lions also seem to be pretty banged up at defensive end, as Willie Young, Israel Idonije and Jason Jones were all unable to practice on Saturday. None of these injuries are believed to be anything other than minor, so perhaps the Lions are just being extra careful.

In other injury news, wide receiver Devin Thomas remains on the PUP list. Until he is activated from it, he will not be able to practice.
