Lions notes: More on Thursday's win over Bills

Lions notes looks at various tidbits from Thursday's win over the Buffalo Bills.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports
  • Thursday's win over the Buffalo Bills gave the Detroit Lions a 3-1 record in the 2013 preseason and a 19-5 record in the preseason since 2008. Actually, the Lions haven't finished below .500 in the preseason since 2006. If only they played this well in games that actually counted.

  • The Lions' captains on Thursday night were Joique Bell, Matt Willis and Andre Fluellen.

  • Montell Owens, Michael Williams and Ziggy Ansah didn't make the trip to Buffalo because the Lions felt it was best for their recovery to stay back in Michigan.

  • Blake Clingan stepped in for Sam Martin as the Lions' punter on Thursday. Martin is dealing with an injury, but it's not believed to be serious enough for him to miss any time in the regular season.

  • Jon Morgan injured his shoulder on Thursday and Martavius Neloms hurt his left foot. Both players will likely be waived/injured on Saturday.

  • Don Carey suffered an injury of his own and was wearing a brace on his right wrist, according to Josh Katzenstein. Later, Carey said on Twitter that he's "good."

  • This is pretty amazing:
  • Ndamukong Suh came in at No. 16 on ESPN's list of the top 100 defensive players in the NFL. Previously, Nick Fairley was ranked 76th on the defensive list and Matthew Stafford was ranked 94th on the offensive list.

  • SB Nation's Jon Bois put together a hilarious piece on the "five people you meet at every fantasy football draft."
