NFL roster cuts: Lions release Brandon Hepburn

The Detroit Lions have released another draft pick. Follow all of the Lions' moves as they get down to 53 players with our roster cuts tracker.

The Detroit Lions have parted ways with another draft pick, as they have released linebacker Brandon Hepburn, according to Dave Birkett. Earlier, wide receiver Corey Fuller, another 2013 draft pick was released.

Hepburn was selected in the seventh round by the Lions in this year's draft. His best bet to make the team was by contributing on special teams, but he evidently didn't do quite enough to be included on the 53-man roster. Considering he was a draft pick, I'd expect Hepburn to end up on the practice squad and spend the 2013 season being developed by the Lions.

I also expect Fuller to end up on the practice squad, and 2012 draft pick Chris Greenwood, who was released as well, should be brought back as a member of the practice squad if he clears waivers.

With Hepburn gone, the Lions are down to 68 players on their roster.
