Lions training camp: Notes from Thursday's practice

News and notes on injuries, the offense, the defense and special teams from Thursday's Detroit Lions training camp practice.

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday, the Detroit Lions held their final practice before Friday's preseason opener against the New York Jets. Here are notes from the session:

Injuries

  • Cornerback Jonte Green finally returned to practice on Thursday. He was limited, but at least he was back in some form.

  • Safety Louis Delmas took part in individual drills, but he sat out the Lions' team drills, according to Brad Galli.

  • Defensive end Jason Jones and cornerback Chris Greenwood didn't practice at all on Thursday.

  • Wide receiver Ryan Broyles and cornerback Ron Bartell seemed to be limited on Thursday.

  • According to Jim Schwartz, the Lions have already ruled out a few players for the Jets game, but the full list won't be announced until Friday.

Offense

Defense

  • Chris McCosky thinks Darius Slay will start at right cornerback based on what the lineup looked like during the Lions' scout team drills.

Special teams

  • It already sounds like the Lions' decision to draft Sam Martin is going to turn out to be a good one.

  • Havard Rugland continues to be Mr. Popular.
