Lions notes: Doug Hogue works out for Detroit

Lions notes looks at some linebackers who were brought in for a workout, Ryan Broyles and more.

  • The Detroit Lions worked out linebackers Doug Hogue, Jason Williams and Stevenson Sylvester on Monday, according to National Football Post. Hogue, who was picked in the fifth round by the Lions in 2011, was released by the team during the 2012 season. He was picked up by the Carolina Panthers on waivers, but they released him during the final round of cuts this year.

  • Jim Schwartz said on Monday that Ryan Broyles is ahead of schedule compared to last year's ACL recovery. Schwartz also said this:

  • As pointed out by Dave Birkett, Reggie Bush had the third-most touches among running backs on Sunday.

  • As noted by Paula Pasche, five players for the Lions were on the field for every defensive snap on Sunday: linebackers Stephen Tulloch and DeAndre Levy, cornerback Chris Houston and safeties Louis Delmas and Glover Quin.

  • The announcers for Sunday's Lions game against the Arizona Cardinals are going to be Sam Rosen and Heath Evans (noooooooooooooo).

  • There reportedly aren't going to be any changes to the format of the preseason in the near future.
