The Detroit Lions have decided to change up their typical game-week schedule this year. In the past, players had Tuesdays off following a game, giving them a day away from the team before returning on Wednesday for the first of three days of practice. Mondays served as a film review day, so preparation for the next game didn't really get rolling until later in the week.
This year, the Lions have switched things up by essentially making Monday the day off and having players return on Tuesday to get ready for the next game.
Different schedule for #Lions. Off Monday, back Tuesday for treatment, film work and game prep for next opponent.

Why the change? Schwartz explained that getting a "taste of the next opponent" helps everybody move on from the last game. If you're coming off a win, you can put that in the rear-view mirror and get ready for the next challenge. If you're coming off a loss, moving on can help you get focused on the next opponent instead of dwelling on what went wrong.
This week, the Lions have already turned their attention to the Arizona Cardinals. They practiced on Wednesday and will practice again on Thursday and Friday before heading off to Arizona for Week 2 of the season.
