Needless to say, I am jazzed that Sean decided to add me on as a writer for Pride Of Detroit. I've never been a commenter on POD, but I've followed the blog religiously for over a couple years now. For my articles, I'll be doing a weekly feature that looks back on a classic meeting with that week's opponent. My aim will be to pick Detroit Lions victories, but sometimes a loss is so embedded in Lions lore (e.g. Bobby Ross and the Lions at Arizona in 1999) that I'll have to talk about it. And don't worry, I won't rehash Marty Mornhinweg taking the wind.
As for myself, I'm a 21-year-old college student at Brown University studying Neuroscience and Literary Arts (i.e. Creative Writing). Before discovering online streams, I ordered the NFL Audio Pass so I could listen to games. I was born into a die-hard Lions family, and I know more about pre-21st century Lions than my age would indicate. My favorite player will always be Johnnie Morton, and I wear a Lions Kid Club shirt with the lyrics to Gridiron Heroes under my No. 87 jersey every Sunday. The only time I stray from that wardrobe is on Thanksgiving Day, when I wear a throwback Billy Sims jersey. Aside from the obvious reasons for wanting the Lions to win a Super Bowl, I wouldn't mind seeing my dad fulfill his vow to streak through our neighborhood. It would be the only time I'd cherish seeing my father naked.
I'm also a die-hard Wolverines (and Tigers and Red Wings) fan, and I write under the name Hollywood Hokester over at Maize n Brew. Two years ago, I talked one of my college's papers into letting me write about the Lions and my family's ties to them, and if you're interested, you can read it here. And on top of all this sports stuff, I write short stories that are ridiculous and gross.
