Reggie Bush injury: Lions RB guarantees he'll be back next week

Reggie Bush didn't play against the Washington Redskins, but he guaranteed after the game that he will return next week.

The Detroit Lions showed on Sunday that they can win without running back Reggie Bush, but they don't want to have to keep proving that going forward. Bush is a big part of the offense, and they need him back from his knee injury sooner rather than later.

With that in mind, Bush had some good news after Sunday's game. He told ESPN's Michael Rothstein that he would have played against the Washington Redskins if it had been a playoff game. Also, he indicated that the Lions held him out for precautionary reasons and that he doesn't plan on sitting next week. In fact, he guaranteed that he will return in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears. From MLive's Kyle Meinke:

"I guarantee I'll play next week," he told MLive.com in the locker room following an emotional 27-20 win.

Guarantee? You sure?

"Yes," he said. "Knee's good. I'll be back this week."

Thanks to Joique Bell, the Lions got by without Bush. Bell rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, and he picked up 69 more yards on 4 receptions. The Lions also used Theo Riddick on Sunday, although he only had 2 carries for -2 yards and 1 catch for 8 yards.

Getting Bush back next week would be huge for Detroit with first place on the line against the Bears. Bell was outstanding, but being able to pair him with Bush for a two-headed attack out of the backfield would be very nice for offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.
