Lions trade rumors: Josh Gordon, Kenny Britt not realistic options?

Off-field issues may mean that Josh Gordon and Kenny Britt aren't realistic trade targets for the Detroit Lions.

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports

As the Detroit Lions search for help at wide receiver with Nate Burleson out with a broken arm, two names keep popping up quite a bit: Josh Gordon and Kenny Britt. Both players are believed to be available for a trade, although just how much it would cost to acquire either of them depends on who you ask.

Part of the reason why Gordon and Britt are likely available revolves around their off-field issues. Gordon has already been suspended for two games for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, and he's one more failed test away from a year-long suspension. Britt has been suspended before as well, as he has been involved with numerous incidents involving the law.

Given the Lions' rough recent history with off-field problems, it appears that a trade for Gordon or Britt isn't likely, according to Jason La Canfora.

Unless the Lions are so desperate that they are willing to take a risk on someone like Gordon or Britt, they will have to look elsewhere for help at wide receiver. There doesn't seem to be a lot out there right now, but perhaps they will be able to pull off a Trent Richardson-like trade and surprise everybody.
