It's a good thing the Detroit Lions cut ties with defensive end Ronnell Lewis when they did, because he has been arrested again. Lewis was first arrested back in April following a bar fight, and he was arrested again early Monday morning on suspicion of DUI, according to FOX23. Here are the details:
The arrest report shows Lewis was stopped after an officer saw his truck cross the center line at 1:54 on Labor Day morning on Main Street in Henryetta. That's when the arresting officer smelled alcohol and noticed a 6-pack with a beer missing inside the truck.
Lewis was drafted by the Lions in the fourth round in 2012. He only appeared in half of the Lions' games during his rookie season, and following his offseason arrest, his standing with the team was in question. It was especially in question after the Lions drafted Ziggy Ansah and Devin Taylor. With the team also adding Jason Jones and Israel Idonije during the offseason, it was pretty clear that Lewis didn't have a spot on the 53-man roster, and the Lions released him during the first round of cuts in August.
It's obviously disappointing to see that another former Lions draft pick is in trouble with the law, but thankfully he's no longer their concern.
