It's on to Plan B for the Detroit Lions, because San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt has been hired by the Tennessee Titans. The deal was first reported by ESPN on Monday evening.

Earlier on Monday, the Lions seemingly had a plane ready to go to San Diego to pick up Whisenhunt and bring him to Detroit. However, that plane never took off from Detroit, and now we know why. Whisenhunt has chosen the Titans, leaving the Lions with Jim Caldwell as their next option.
Considering how much speculation there's been the last couple weeks about the Lions landing Whisenhunt, this news is pretty shocking. I suppose it shouldn't be surprising that the Lions can't even handle a coaching search properly, but the reality of the situation is that the Titans just hired Detroit's top candidate. Ugh.
