Lions to add Bill Lazor, Teryl Austin as coordinators?

The Detroit Lions have reportedly made a decision on their offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator.

Nothing has been confirmed at this time, but it looks like the Detroit Lions are going to add Bill Lazor as their offensive coordinator and Teryl Austin as their defensive coordinator.

Lazor's name was not the first one to pop up as a candidate for the Lions' offensive coordinator job. Actually, there have been several different coaches mentioned as being the "favorite" to take this position on Jim Caldwell's staff. However, Ed Werder reported on ESPN on Tuesday afternoon that Lazor is going to be the offensive coordinator.

Currently, Lazor is the Philadelphia Eagles' quarterbacks coach. He joined the Eagles in 2013 and did an outstanding job with Nick Foles. Previously, Lazor was the offensive coordinator at Virginia and Buffalo in the college ranks, and he's been an assistant with the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks as well. Lazor began his coaching career at Cornell, which is where he played quarterback in college.

As for Austin, he has been the favorite to join Caldwell's staff as the defensive coordinator ever since Caldwell first interviewed for the Lions' job earlier this month. Austin once coached at Michigan, and he spent time at Penn State and Wake Forest with Caldwell. Austin also spent time with Caldwell in Baltimore as the Ravens' secondary coach, and now it appears that Austin is going to follow Caldwell to Detroit.

Again, these reports are unconfirmed at this time, so nothing is set in stone just yet. But it does appear that Caldwell's staff is starting to come together.
