This feels familiar. On Tuesday, it was reported that Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor was set to join Jim Caldwell's coaching staff in Detroit as the offensive coordinator. Nothing was confirmed, but ESPN's Ed Werder made it seem like Lazor to the Detroit Lions was at least close to a done deal.
Fast forward to Wednesday and Lazor has been hired as the offensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins, not the Lions.
Dolphins hire Eagles QB coach Bill Lazor as new OC, per sources.

Once again, it appears that the Lions have finished in second place for their preferred candidate. Much like their head coaching search after Ken Whisenhunt was hired by the Tennessee Titans, the Lions now have to move on and find someone else to fill the offensive coordinator role. Dave Birkett reports that David Culley and Clyde Christensen are two coaches to keep an eye on, but no hire has been made at this point.
