The Detroit Lions have not announced anything yet, but it appears that they have decided to hire Baltimore Ravens secondary coach Teryl Austin as their new defensive coordinator. All signs have pointed to Austin becoming the defensive coordinator since Jim Caldwell was hired as the head coach, and Chris McCosky is reporting that it's a done deal.
Was told Teryl Austin will be the Lions DC. Deal is done. No word yet on OC.

The Lions aren't planning to make any coaching-related announcements on Wednesday night, according to Kyle Meinke. However, that may simply be because they don't want to announce anything before they actually inform Gunther Cunningham, who is still under contract, that he won't be returning.
In other defensive coaching news, McCosky reports that Ron English is "under consideration for a spot on Caldwell's staff in Detroit." English is a former Michigan assistant, and he was most recently Eastern Michigan's head coach. In all likelihood, he is being considered for a job involving the Lions' defensive backs.
