The Senior Bowl experience has been much different for the Detroit Lions this year. Aside from having a new head coach and several new assistants this year, the Lions aren't serving as one of the coaching staffs in the game. As a result, they aren't getting the same kind of up-close look that helped them decide to draft Ziggy Ansah, Larry Warford and Michael Williams last year.
Even though they're not coaching one of the teams, the Senior Bowl has still been a valuable resource for the Lions. They've gotten a chance to observe practices all week, and they've also gotten a chance to meet with several players. Here's a look at just some of the players who have met with the Lions this week:
- WR Mike Davis (Texas)
- WR Jalen Saunders (Oklahoma)
- WR Cody Hoffman (BYU)
- C Weston Richburg (Colorado State)
- CB Aaron Colvin (Oklahoma)*
- CB Keith McGill (Utah)
- S Ahmad Dixon (Baylor)
This list is far from complete since these are simply the players known to have met with the Lions. Several other players also likely met with the Lions this week, but not every interview ends up leaking out to the media. Even so, it'll be interesting to see if any of these names end up being connected to the Lions again at some point in the lead-up to the 2014 NFL Draft.
*Colvin tore his ACL in practice this week.
